This Week in Our Room

Check out our Silver Spoon!  (picture coming soon) We've been awarded the honor of keeping it outside our classroom door for the week because of incredible behavior in the cafeteria. Congratulations Room 204 for doing such a great job!

*Friday is Hat Day - students can wear a hat on Friday if they bring a dollar.  This is a PTA fundraiser.  Speaking of the PTA - what a great organization.  Would you like to be a part of ours?  I'll personally watch your children if you need childcare to be able to attend meetings.  Let me know if you'd like to join!

*Southwest is fortunate to have a visiting artist in residence to work on projects with the students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade.  Wear old clothes this week, or clothes you don't mind getting messed up.

*Homework - every night, students will need to read 20 minutes even if it isn't marked in the planner.  We are working on teaching the guys to fill out their planners on their own.

*Spelling/Vocabulary word lists will be given out each Tuesday and tested the following Monday.  Look for the word list in your child's planner.

Lastly, we are so proud of Jalen who will be running for 5th Grade Student Council this week!  Speeches will begin on Wednesday.  I'll let you know which day we vote.

As always, please feel free to email or call if you need anything.  The best times to call are before 8:30 and between 11:00 and 12.

Supplies

Because we keep the same students and use durable materials in our room the amount of supplies needed is greatly reduced.

That said, here is a list of things we can use in our room:

*glue sticks
*pencils
*baby wipes
*hand sanitizer
*kleenex
*composition books (2)

Thank you parents for all you do!

1st Day

It has been wonderful seeing those of you who were able to come to Open House.  We are gearing up for a great year!

Look for the new agenda (also known as a planner) each day.  Please initial it each day and log how many minutes that were spent reading each night in the agenda (planner).

We hope to begin a homework routine starting the first day of school.  If anything differs from that routine, I will put it on this blog.  You can sign up for an email notification each time I add an entry.  Look on the top right hand side of this page for a place to input your email address.

Our new room is ready and waiting for you!  See you bright an early Monday morning!

Moving On Up!

I just got word that we are moving to a new classroom!  Want to come help?  We will be moving to room 204  -  not far from Mrs. Bauer's class!  We might even be her neighbor.  Help wanted to move stuff into the new room.  Keep posted for dates and times.
